SUPERFOOTY
Collingwood’s attack on paper reads well, but nagging
injuries and poor kicking limited the Magpies’ potential last season.
The Pies’ attack ranked 15th in the league last year, averaging 80
points a game, despite ranking seventh for marks inside-50 according to
Champion Data’s 2015 AFL Prospectus. The Magpies operated at just 46 per
cent accuracy (17th in the league) and 23 per cent (14th) for turning
inside-50s into goals. Cloke was the worst offender, operating at 46 per
cent accuracy for his 39.30 season and missing altogether 15 times, the
most of any player. In contrast, Elliott kicked 33.11 in 17 games — a
75 per cent strike rate. Reid is “headliners” worthy when fit and firing
while the likes of Blair, White, Thomas and Fasolo play bit-part roles.
Kennedy promises a lot at VFL level but is yet to put that to practice
on the main stage, restricted to just eight senior appearances last
year.
