Dwyer was absent from last Friday's win against Brisbane due to a groin injury while Russell also missed as a result of an ankle complaint picked up against Sydney in round nine.
"Sammy has a bit of groin soreness," Director of Football Geoff Walsh said last Thursday.
"He has struggled with it which is contrary to his form, which has been strong, but has suffered a few issues with it during the week, so we just decided to give him a spell in the hope he overcomes it."
Others on the club's injury list have all crept forward another week in their rehabilitation, including Tyson Goldsack who is now listed as being only one week away from returning from a hip injury.
The versatile forward has not played since Collingwood's win over St Kilda in round six.
Key defenders Lachlan Keeffe (bruised kidney) and Michael Hartley (shoulder) are also anticipated to be only a week away from returning to the VFL while ex-Hawk Clinton Young is 2-3 weeks from getting back out on the park.
Young, who has not played a match of any description since his one and only VFL game back in April, tweeted the following late last week:
As reported last week, Ben Johnson injured his calf during training last Tuesday and will not be seen for another two weeks.
