Injury List

Collingwood News

Collingwood has received mixed news on the injury front ahead of Saturday's clash with Richmond.
Reigning Copeland Trophy winner Dayne Beams will miss a further 2-3 weeks due to a quad injury sustained at training before round one, but All-Australian defender Ben Reid is likely to take his place in the starting line-up after recovering well from a jarred knee.
It was originally hoped that Beams would miss 1-2 weeks, but he will instead be forced to bide his time for another 2-3.
"Dayne was progressing well but pulled up a little sore from the weekend's training," Director of Football Geoff Walsh told collingwoodfc.com.au.
"I suppose the scenario is that where we thought he could be playing in the next week or so, he is probably two or three (of weeks) away.
"It's frustrating but we want to be sure that when he returns Dayne will not be carrying any lingering effects."
The news is better for Reid who looked to be in serious trouble when he landed awkwardly on his right knee during the second quarter of Collingwood's loss to Hawthorn.
He limped from the field but returned 17 minutes later and played out the remainder of the match.
"'Reidy' is fine. He has pulled up well and we expect him to play. He finished the Hawthorn game out and the next day was moving and feeling pretty well."
Walsh also reported that Brodie Grundy, the club's first selection in last November's National Draft, is now only a few weeks away from his first outing in Collingwood colours.
He did not participate in any of the NAB Cup nor the VFL practice matches due to a back injury.
The news isn't as positive for fellow draftee Jackson Ramsay. The West Australian recruit hurt his wrist on debut in the VFL against North Ballarat and will now watch the next 8-10 games from the grandstand.
"The news on two of our younger boys is mixed, with Brodie Grundy closer to playing for the first time than anticipated but Jackson Ramsay likely to miss a couple of months with a wrist injury he picked up a couple of weeks ago," said Walsh.
"Brodie has patiently worked to overcome his niggle and there is a good chance we will see him in the next fortnight or so.
"Unfortunately for Jackson, his injury is going to keep him sidelined for the next 8-10 weeks."
