Collingwood midfielder Dale Thomas will miss the next two matches in the hope that he can overcome an injury to his right ankle.
Collingwood director of football, Geoff Walsh, said that after consultation with a specialist and the club’s medical staff today it was agreed that Thomas would have his training program wound back for the next fortnight to allow his ankle to settle.
“The medical opinion is that if Dale has his training scaled back, the load-bearing work reduced for a couple of weeks, then the ankle should settle and he will be able to resume full training,” Walsh said.
Thomas had scans this week and came from the training track on Wednesday. He met with a specialist this afternoon.
Thomas had surgery on his right ankle in the off-season and made a late start the season as a consequence. After building his condition in the VFL, the 2010 premiership midfielder and 2011 All-Australian returned to the senior side in round three. He has played five games in 2013.
