Collingwood hopes to regain Taylor Adams for Sunday’s clash with his former club Greater Western Sydney.
The onballer sat out Monday’s 25-point win against Melbourne with a toe injury, but Director of Football Neil Balme is confident the 21-year-old will be in the mix for a quick return this week.
“He’s certainly going very well with (his toe),” Balme told CollingwoodTV’s Blackmores Injury Update.
“We’re reasonably confident that he will be available for this week, but he will need to train so there’s no certainty, but we’re pretty happy that he will be.”
Adams originally sustained the injury in the loss to Adelaide in round two and sat out the clash with St Kilda the week later.
Jarrod Witts is another who will hope to join Adams in pushing for senior selection this week.
Witts was a late withdrawal on the Queen’s Birthday but Balme labelled him “almost a certainty” to signal his availability.
“Jarrod was a little bit sore. In truth he probably could have played but we decided to give him a rest.
“He will be almost a certainty for this week as well.”
Jarryd Blair rolled his ankle during the second quarter of Monday’s win but played out the match, kicking three goals.
Another piece will be added to the 2015 jigsaw when Levi Greenwood makes his long-awaited return from a fractured tibia in the VFL.
The ex-Kangaroo was a chance to return in the state league against the Casey Scorpions last Saturday but will instead play his first match since March against his former VFL affiliate Werribee on Sunday.
“We expected Levi to play in the VFL last week bit we were a little bit conservative and decided not to play him,” Balme said.
“He ran over the weekend and ran again today so he is almost a certainty for Werribee on Sunday.”
