Darcy Moore watched on in the final term after hurting his hamstring against West Coast.
His breakout game on Saturday afternoon was over almost as soon as it begun, but Darcy Moore could be back on the field as early as this Friday.
Moore kicked 3.2 and took six marks against West Coast in what was his most promising half of football this year.
However he failed to return to the field after half time with a hamstring injury preventing any further heroics.
On Monday, Collingwood director of football Neil Balme played down the severity of any potential injury.
"He was nearly right to come back on the field," Balme told Collingwood Media's 'Blackmores Injury Update'.
"We haven't ruled him out for this week."
With or without Moore, Collingwood will prepare to take on an under-siege Richmond on Friday night with a number of players searching for selection.
Alex Fasolo, Ben Sinclair and Jarryd Blair were all forced out of the Magpies' round 19 side with injury and will all aim for an immediate return.
Balme believes it is a realistic goal for two of the three players.
"Fasolo's shoulder is on the improve. He's much better this week than it was last week.
"He'll also have to prove himself and be tested. I'm pretty confident that he'll get up.
"Jarryd Blair missed last week with a groin injury. He's feeling much better and we're almost certain that he'll play this week.
"Ben Sinclair has suffered multiple concussions already. We're pretty confident that he's feeling well.
"He's some chance for this week, but with concussion, we'll be very conservative about it."
Despite Sinclair suffering four separate concussion incidents in 2016, Balme stated "we think he'll play again this year".
While the AFL side will search for two wins in a row, its VFL counterpart will look to win its consecutive game on Saturday at the Holden Centre.
Two players expected to take part are Jarrod Witts and Matthew Goodyear.
Goodyear, 19, was a late withdrawal from the VFL on Saturday with illness, while Witts has missed two weeks with a dislocated finger.
Tim Broomhead isn't expected to join them on the field this weekend, with the 2015 Rising Star nominee in "a bit of trouble" with a shoulder injury.
"We'll need to get him looked at by the medicos to see how he goes," Balme said.
"He probably will miss this week."

ON THE BLOCK: Big man Darcy Moore dominated for a half at the MCG on Saturday before hamstring tightness forced him off the ground. He is expected to undergo scans on Monday to learn the extent of the damage. In any event, he is at long odds to be available to play against Richmond on Friday night.

ON THE CUSP: Collingwood won't be playing finals, but its VFL side has won nine in a row and look set for a top-four finish. Brent Macaffer was a tackling machine in the win over Geelong at Victoria Park on Saturday to be named in the best. Fellow 2010 premiership player Tyson Goldsack also impressed. American Mason Cox, who booted two goals, may be in line for a recall should Moore miss.

NICK SMART'S FORECAST: Collingwood's skill execution and decision making going forward continues to frustrate, although there was no doubting the intensity in its win over West Coast. The Magpies dominated possession and laid a whopping 118 tackles. If that work rate can be maintained, Richmond will be in big trouble.
