"It was a tough game, a physical game. Fremantle certainly are very much a good pressure team and they brought that in the second half. We (won) a lot of key statistical areas … but just our polish at the end under pressure, we just couldn't quite execute the right thing at the right time."
– Collingwood coach Steve Symonds

The Age
Despite Collingwood dominating virtually every area bar the scoreboard, Fremantle remain undefeated in the AFLW after a three-point victory at Fremantle Oval. The Dockers and Magpies came into the contest undefeated after two rounds of the 2020 season. Collingwood dominated most areas with 93 more possessions, 13 extra inside-50 entries and the only six marks in attack. But the Dockers applied ferocious pressure with 73 tackles and were more efficient in attack to win 5.3 (33) to 4.6 (30).

The Roar
The Fremantle Dockers are the only team to win all three matches so far in AFLW 2020 while building an imposing home-ground advantage on the back of their ferocious defensive pressure. Coming off reaching the preliminary final in 2019, the Dockers look to have improved further so far in 2020 having now recorded strong wins against Geelong, West Coast and Collingwood. Saturday’s win at Fremantle Oval, in the battle of undefeated teams over the Magpies, was especially impressive and showcased how imposing the Dockers’ tackling and defensive pressure is. Despite 93 more possessions to the opposition, Fremantle only conceded four goals to Collingwood as they laid 73 tackles for the game and didn’t allow the Magpies an opportunity for clean disposal.

Collingwood News
Fremantle has elevated itself above the AFLW pack and remains the only undefeated team after a thrilling three-point win against a desperate Collingwood on Saturday. The Dockers extended their winning streak at Fremantle Oval to seven games and maintained their perfect record in 2020 with the 5.3 (33) to 4.6 (30) win in front of 5,636 fans. Their defence was heroic, holding off the surging Magpies in the final quarter and keeping their opponents to one goal in the second half, despite Collingwood's massive 34-21 advantage in forward entries.
