Collingwood defender Nathan Brown will miss the next 4-5 weeks after injuring his shoulder during Saturday night’s gritty win over Sydney.
Brown’s right shoulder dislocated during a marking contest with Swans opponent Lance Franklin with just three minutes remaining in the third quarter.
He was substituted out of the match but Director of Football Rodney Eade told CollingwoodTV the club’s worst fears have been allayed.
“The prognosis is, I would think, the best we can hope for. He will probably be 4-5 weeks," Eade said.
“We’ve got to get the swelling down inside his shoulder joint and obviously do a strengthening program.
“The shoulder came out of its joint on Saturday night but there’s no extra damage to the bone or minor damage to the ligaments.
“We’re reasonably confident that it’s a pretty good result for us.
Brown was not the only Magpie to be struck down by injury during the 20-point interstate victory, as Eade explained.
“Ben Sinclair has unfortunately got a minor strain in his hamstring in the lower part of his leg.
“He just felt that tighten up towards the end of the game on Saturday night so a maximum will be three but we’re quite confident and hopeful it will be two weeks.”
Captain Scott Pendlebury was also sent for a scan after receiving a knock to his lower leg during his 33-disposal performance.
Eade still expects Pendlebury to line up against Geelong at the MCG next Saturday night.
“He got a knock to his lower leg on Saturday night, which pushed his ankle over a little bit.
“Scott’s OK, he’s fine, so we’re more than confident he’ll play on Saturday.”
