Why watch?
Both sides enter this Friday night blockbuster on the rebound from defeats. That means there are significant ramifications for the loser.
The Tigers are currently 12th on the ladder, one spot above Collingwood which also has a 1-2 record.
Whichever side remains on four points after this round will start to lose touch with the top eight.

Match notes

  • Travis Cloke's 200th AFL match
  • A blockbuster MCG crowd of more than 70,000 expected
  • Brett Deledio and Shaun Hampson could return for the Tigers while Nick Vlastuin (concussion) is being monitored. The Pies are confident Nick Maxwell (ankle) will line up
  • Pies midfielder Taylor Adams will serve a one-game ban for his bump on Geelong’s Joel Selwood
Say what?
"I haven't really thought about it. I actually thought it was next week," said Cloke of his 200th game.
"Life after footy is the time to reflect on milestones...I just go out and play footy and don't worry about what's out of my control."

Cold hard fact
Travis Cloke tore Richmond's defence to shreds last time these sides met. He kicked seven goals last year when the Pies won by 34 points.

Final word
In terms of form, Collingwood was not overly disappointing in its 11-point loss to the Cats. Whereas the Tigers showed against the Bulldogs they have some ground to make up. On that reasoning, we are tipping the Magpies to win by 10 points.
