Mason Cox receives an inspection of his injured hand during Collingwood's 75-point win over Brisbane on Saturday night.
He was Collingwood's leading goalscorer in a 78-point victory over Brisbane, and now Mason Cox has received the good news that there is no serious injury to his bloody hand.
Teammate Darcy Moore stood on the open palm of Cox in a marking contest in the third quarter.
Footage from the match showed immediate swelling to Cox's hand, however the American returned to the game in the final quarter.
"Fortunately it's been looked at and he has no serious problem," Director of Football Neil Balme told Collingwood Media's 'Blackmores Injury Update'.
"He should be fine for this week."
With Cox expected to remain in a Collingwood side that will take on Geelong, he may be joined by another tall in Ben Reid.
Reid has had a week to recover from a shoulder injury suffered in round seven's loss to Carlton.
Balme said the former All-Australian defender is "coming on well" and is expected to help Jack Frost take on Geelong's tall forwards at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.
"We're reasonably confident he'll get up for this week. Obviously he'll need to train and be tested," Balme said on Monday.
Collingwood's VFL team may also be strengthened after defeating Geelong at Simonds Stadium on Saturday.
Marley Williams and Tyson Goldsack are a chance to make a return under lights at the Holden Centre on Saturday, while Rupert Wills is also likely to return.
"Both of those two boys should be right. More than likely they'll get a run in the VFL just to get back to fitness," Balme said of Williams and Goldsack.
"Rupert Wills missed the game in the VFL on the weekend with a calf injury. He should be fine to play also."
Key defender Nathan Brown is pushing hard for selection, but Balme's tone appeared to suggest the Premiership player may have to wait before returning from a hamstring injury.
"It's more than likely that with that hamstring he might miss another one," he said.
"He's certainly short term."
After a string of Sunday games and six-day breaks, the Magpies will have a full week before a Saturday afternoon game against Geelong.

ON THE BLOCK: This might be one of the few times this season the Pies don't ring the changes after belting Brisbane on Saturday night. Mason Cox had his hand stood on by teammate Darcy Moore but played on, while Travis Varcoe finished the game on the bench but no report of a concern in his return from a hamstring injury.
ON THE CUSP: Ben Reid was close but missed against the Lions and will be needed against Geelong's tall forwards, same goes for out-of-form defender Nathan Brown who also missed with a slight hamstring issue. James Aish was named second best for Collingwood's VFL team in their win over Geelong on Saturday, but an immediate call up to the seniors seems unlikely given his underwhelming form at AFL level this year. Travis Cloke went goalless in the VFL and missed a set shot from 5m but had 19 disposals and took seven marks.
KATE SALEMME'S FORECAST: The pressure has eased on coach Nathan Buckley ... for now. The Pies are 3-5 heading into a tough couple of weeks starting with in-form Geelong at the MCG on Saturday. The win over the Lions has given the group a much-needed confidence boost but Buckley will be hoping for more of that pressure and solid defensive structure against the Cats. Western Bulldogs await the week after and then struggling Port Adelaide. Some more goalkicking practice will definitely be on the cards at the Holden Centre this week too, 23 behind won't cut it against top teams.
