Ben Reid has “turned the corner” in his rehabilitation from the calf injury that has sidelined him during the first half of 2014.
In his weekly Blackmores Injury Update, Director of Football Rodney Eade said it is hoped Reid will be available for selection in a week’s time.
“Ben Reid has turned the corner – it’s been a rather big corner – but he has turned it,” Eade told CollingwoodTV.
“He’s trained strongly on the track now for a couple of weeks.
“He won’t be available this week but should be available next week, which will be round 11 in the seniors.”
Young defender Adam Oxley is also nearing a return from the ankle injury he sustained during the team’s intra-club match on 1 February.
“At this stage, it looks like he will be available to play this week,” Eade said.
“He’s had two weeks on the training track, so fingers crossed for him that if there’s nothing unforeseen, he’ll be available to play.”
